Today is about tomorrow.
Forced down another Wyndham breakfast and we headed west towards Amarillo on the I40 to prepare for the moderate risk day tomorrow. We're likely to be up around 05:00 for the first wave of weather, then breakfast around 09:00 and a think about the target area for hopefully supercells and large tornadoes in the afternoon. Current thinking is south of here towards Lubbock.
We had a leisurely meander off the I40 and onto the dying towns of Route 66 long since bypassed by the opening of the Interstate. This included a lengthy diversion around an accident on the I40. We had a picnic lunch post Walmart and Starbucks in a tatty Elmore Park in Shamrock Tx and I took the opportunity to dust down the Yashicamat 124 and take some film photos. We then paid a social visit to the Big Texan and its 72 oz steak. Kept checking the Marton cricket score - they won and Rory took 5-17. Well done son.
Stopped off in McLean which even for a Sunday looked desolate before checking into the Days Inn in Amarillo for a tasty New York steak and Armadillo IPA at the Texas Roadhouse.
Can hardly keep my eyes open, writing this up has been a struggle and the laptop refuses to connect properly to any WiFi so I need to use the iPhone wireless hotspot which is a pain.
It's now 11:00 and sleep awaits.
